If you are familiar with the Blue
Ridge area, you already know about
the many activities that are going on year around. If not, we will give
your a few ideas of what to do. The cabin is located in the Dial area
and is surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest. The area is in
the Aska Adventure Area. Weeks Creek flows down our mountain into the
Toccoa River, which flows into Lake Blue Ridge a few miles away.
Lake Blue Ridge is also a TVA Dam and is quite impressive if you have
never seen one. In the Aska Adventure area, you can enjoy mountain
biking trails, tubing & kayaking, fishing and hiking trails. Nearby
in Blue Ridge, you will find Mountain Crafts and a variety of shops.
Mercier Apple and Fruit Orchard is
also close by. In a few minutes, you can be in Macraysville or
cross the river into Tennessee and you will be in Ducktown. Both
have great restaurants, craft, and antique shops. Just 25 minutes
or less, you can be in Murphy, North Carolina, which is also full of
Mountain Crafts and shops. Also in Murphy, you will find several
Mountain Craft Flea Markets located right next to each other. Head
south from Blue Ridge about 15 miles and you will be in Ellijay,
Georgia the "Apple Capital of the South" with many Apple Orchards with
crafts and fresh apples, cider and pastries.
More adventure is found in
Dahlonega with the Georgia Gold Mining Museum. Dahlonega is 25 miles
from the property and you can visit the museum and two local gold mines
and pan for gold. Just a little further, you will find the Alpine Mountain Town of Helen,
Georgia. Helen is famous for the Alpine theme town, crafts and
Octoberfest that starts in September and continues through the end of
October. Get your map out and decide just how much fun and enjoyment
you want all within a 75 mile radius of our property. There something
going on year around, like: Bluegrass, Country, gospel music,
festivals, craft fairs, Georgia gold rush days, etc. Gatlinburg,
Pigeon Forge, Dolly Wood and Cades Cove (Smokey Mountain National Park)
is only 1.5 hour drive if you go through Cherokee N.C.. The
Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee is about a one hour drive. The world
famous Nantahala white water is also about a one hour drive. Also
within about 45 minutes you can white water raft or kayak at the 1994
Olympic area in Tennessee. When you register we will send you a
